WELCOME BACK!
With spring semester classes having started on Monday, it's great
to see campus come alive again with faculty and students –
especially with the return of more than 400 student-athletes.
Welcome back, and make it a great semester!
MEN’S HOOPS LOOKS FOR
8TH STRAIGHT WIN
…
Join us at James A. Rhodes Arena as our Men’s Basketball team seeks its eighth straight victory when we host Ball State at 7 p.m. tonight. Head Coach Keith Dambrot discusses his team’s winning streak – we are 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the Mid-American Conference – and previews tonight's and Saturday’s match-ups in his weekly video feature.
This has the makings to be a very special season, but we need great crowds each night not only to support our team but also to show the country that we have the best basketball program in the MAC. Our team has been all around campus – in the Rec Center, in the Student Union, in the dining halls – since classes started to promote the game and encourage student attendance.
While our ticket sales have grown greatly over the last few years, we will continue to encourage fans to make sure to use their tickets for every game. Our Ticket Operations staff runs a ticket usage report immediately after every home game and our Personal Account Representatives follow up with those accounts whose redemption rates are less than 50 percent.
While we greatly appreciate the commitment every season ticketholder has made, we want you to get the full return on your investment by either encouraging you to use or distribute the tickets, or allowing us to help you make sure they go to good use. We offer a secure website, Akron Ticket Exchange, on which you can post your seats, and we also have our Ticket Donation Program that provides donated tickets to underprivileged children and members of the military, among other deserving organizations. It’s a great time and a great team, so please join us!
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL DOMINATES PNC WAGON WHEEL CHALLENGE MATCH-UP
Congratulations to Head Coach Jodi Kest and our Women’s Basketball team for a dominating performance Sunday at home over rival Kent State. The 93-58 score is our largest margin of victory against a conference opponent in the history of our program. The win also earned .5 points in the PNC Wagon Wheel Challenge, which we lead 3.5-2.0.
Our team is 11-4 overall and 2-0 in the MAC. In her weekly video update, Coach Kest talks about the team’s hot start and previews the next two road contests.
We tip off at 8 p.m. ET tonight in Dekalb against Northern Illinois (here are links for free video stream and free online audio stream with Bill Morgan). Keep it going, ladies … we’re proud of you!

The new Head Coach of our Men’s Soccer program, Jared Embick, sat down for a GoZips.com video exclusive to discuss his transition from assistant coach and the state of the 2013 Zips. Next week we’ll return to student-athletes, but we thought everyone would enjoy getting to know Jared!
