Alice Hottensmith, Swimming and Diving
Junior diver Alice Hottensmith (Brunswick, Ohio) has been selected as the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week.
In a double-dual meet against Xavier and Mount Union over the weekend, Alice Hottensmith dominated each of the diving events to help the Zips defeat both teams. The junior broke a Mid-American Conference one-meter dive record with a score of 356.85. The previous league record was 349.13 set by Danielle Hulvey of Eastern Michigan in 2013. Her score also set an Ocasek Natatorium pool record, shattering the previous mark of 313.35 set in 2009 by Buffalo's Meili Carpenter. Hottensmith then went on to set a second Akron program record with a first-place score of 346.35 in the three-meter dive to come within four points of the ONAT pool record.
