Junior pitcher Erin Seiler (Bowling Green, Ohio) was named the Zips' Student-Athlete of the Week on Feb. 16.
Seiler went 4-0 for a 1.38 ERA in four complete games, including a shutout, en route to lifting the Zips to the Jacksonville Invitational team title. She fanned 39 batters, including a career-high a 14 in the win over Jacksonville, and walked six in 26.0 innings of work.
On the season, Seiler is the Zips' top hurler with a 1.60 ERA and a 6-1 overall record. She's struck out 64 batters and walked 13 in 45.0 innings of action. In seven starts on the mound, Seiler has six complete games and two shutouts.
Akron won the Jacksonville University Invitational, going 4-1 on the weekend. The Zips have won three consecutive games and five of their last six contests.
