Carli Knezevich, Women's Tennis
Carli Knezevich (Austin, Texas), a junior on the University of Akron women’s tennis team, was named the Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Week on Sept. 26, presented by The University of Akron.
Knezevich was the only Zip to go undefeated (6-0) during the Akron Shootout this past weekend. She started off by besting Youngtown State’s Nehel Sahni 6-3, 3-6, 1-0 (6) at the No. 5 position. At No. 2 doubles against Siena, Knezevich paired with senior Karalina Maksimava for a 7-5 triumph over Ivana Boberic and Natalie Weaver.
On Saturday, Knezevich competed versus the Saints’ No. 5 player, Juliana Goehner, to seize a 6-4, 6-0 victory. The duo of Knezevich and Maksimava then took down Cleveland State’s Aleksandra Golawska and Isabella Spindler, 6-3. On the final day, Knezevich captured a 6-4, 7-6 (3) victory over Princess Gbadamosi at No. 5 singles before claiming a 6-1 win versus Noëlly Longi Nsimba and Ana Stroe at No. 2 doubles.
Akron travels to Dayton, Ohio on Sept. 30-Oct. 1 to participate in the Wright State Invitational.
