Sohniya Chandra Mohan Leads Zips at Rio Verde Invitational

Rio Verde, Ariz – The Akron golf team landed in 16^th place overall after the initial 18 holes of plat at the Rio Verde Invitational hosted by Western Michigan on Friday.

The Zips posted a 312 (+24) team score at the Rio Verde White Wing Course (par 72, 6,056 yards). Sohniya Chandra Mohan led the Zips scoring with a 3-over par 75 score as she collected four birdies and eight par scores. Chandra Mohan enters the second 18 hole round ranked 24^th overall.

Kaitlin Kormuth carded a 77 (+5) first round tally, recording two birdies and nine par scores en route to a 43^th finish on the player leaderboard. Maisarah Hezri was the last Zip to finish the first round, posting a i78 (+6) score. Hezri tallied nine par scores. Rounding out the opening round scoring were 80 Hridhika Vora 82 (+10) and Goethe Na Songkhla 84 (+12). Vora carded nine par scores, while Na Songkhla registered seven par scores.

Round two tee times have been prepared as the Zips are scheduled to tee off from holes 7-10, starting with Hezri starting at hole 7A followed by Chandra Mohan (8), Hridhika Vora (9A), Kormuth (9B) and Na Songkhla (10).
