Wendl Named MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron redshirt senior Owen Wendl (Medina, Ohio) was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Jan. 27).

Wendl captured first place in the men's shot put at the Jud Logan Memorial with a career-best throw of 59-4.25 (18.09m). His mark is the third-longest indoor throw in program history and currently ranks first in the MAC and 35th nationally.

Akron returns to competition at a trio of weekend meets, including the Meyo Invitational (Jan. 30-31) hosted by Notre Dame, Penn State National (Jan. 30-31) and Youngstown State Mid-Major Invitational (Jan. 30-31).Â
