Akron Soccer Honored by United Soccer Coaches for Academic Success

2024-25 UNITED SOCCER COACHES COLLEGE TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD RELEASE
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Akron was one of 151 schools nationwide to have its men's and women's soccer teams recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as 2024-25 Collegiate Team Academic Award winners.
Recognized for the 15th year in a row, the Zips' women's squad led by first-year head coach Maggie Kuhn posted a 3.73 GPA this past academic year.
The Akron men's team under 13th-year head coach Jared Embick was recognized for the 18th consecutive year and 19th time overall after registering a cumulative 3.11 grade point average for the 2024-25 academic year.
To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
