Akron Sweeps Weekly MAC Track and Field Honors

CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron redshirt senior Cassidy Allen (Lakewood, N.Y), sophomore Isaac Baltic (Medina, Ohio), senior Vanessa Horn (Ludwigsfelde, Germany) and junior AJ Jordan (Columbus, Ohio) were honored by the Mid-American Conference as its men's and women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday (Dec. 16).

Horn and Allen were tabbed as the women's Track and Field Athletes of the Week, while Jordan and Baltic were named the men's Track and Field Athletes of the Week.

Allen delivered a first-place finish and a career-best mark in the women's pole vault at the Haynes Lancaster Open, clearing 14-1.75 (4.30m). This jump stands as the No. 4 mark in indoor program history, the No. 4 jump in the NCAAÂ this season, and is No. 1 in the conference.

Baltic had a stellar performance in the men's pole vault at the Haynes Lancaster Open, eclipsing a career-best mark of 17-0.75 (5.20m). He placed third overall but secured the top collegiate mark in the competition. His effort stands as the top mark in the league this season and is ranked No. 11 in the NCAA.

Horn won the women's 400 meters at the Haynes Lancaster Open with a time of 54.31. The performance represents the second-fastest time in indoor program history and currently ranks first in the MACÂ and fourth nationally.

Jordan captured the men's 200 meters at the Haynes Lancaster Open with a career-best time of 21.12, the fourth-fastest effort in indoor program history. His performance stands as the sixth-fastest time in the NCAAÂ this season and is No. 1 in the league.
