Schramm Goes 4-for-4 on FG's; Gant Eclipses 1,000 Yards in Season Finale Win at BGSU

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Matthew Schramm went a perfect 4-of-4 on field goals and Jordan Gant eclipsed 1,000 yards on the season to help the Akron football team take down Bowling Green 19-16 at Doyt Perry Stadium Tuesday night. 
Jordant Gant capped his first season as a Zip with 86 yards on the ground, becoming the first 1,000-yard rusher since Dennis Kennedy ran for 1,321 yards in 2008. Gant finished the season with 1,032 yards. Ben Finley also added a career-high 62 yards on the ground, averaging 5.2 yards per carry.
Israel Polk reeled in two catches for 85 yards and one score, while Marcel Williams hauled in six passes for 74 yards.
Bruno Dall led the Akron defensive effort, collecting eight tackles and one interception. Mehki Flowers added seven tackles and one interception, while Ronald Hull had three tackles, 1.5 TFL, and 1.5 sacks in the win.
Defensively, Akron limited the Bowling Green offense to 272 total yards. The Zips kept Bowling Green under 150 yards on both the ground and through the air, allowing 138 passing and 134 rushing yards. The Zips defense disrupted the Bowling Green passing attack on the way to grabbing two interceptions and breaking up four Falcons passes.
The Zips improved to 5-7 on the year and 4-4 in Mid-American Conference play, marking the first time since 2017 the Zips won five games and four league games. #MakeTheClimb
After falling behind 3-0, Akron fired back with a field goal with 5:14 left in the first quarter to tie it at 3-3.Bowling Green scored to go ahead 6-3 before the Zips responded to tie the game at 6-6.
Akron followed with a 48-yard field goal from at the 12:42 mark in the third quarter and grabbed a 9-6 lead in the process.Bowling Green then took control of the lead, building a 13-9 advantage before the Zips got on the scoreboard again with a 75-yard touchdown pass from Finley to Polk to jump back ahead 16-13.
Akron continued to expand its lead, scoring again with 11:43 left in the fourth quarter to go on top 19-13. Akron didn't score again and Bowling Green tacked on three more points to finish off the scoring.
