Akron Soccer Honored by United Soccer Coaches for Academic Success

2023-24 UNITED SOCCER COACHES COLLEGE TEAM ACADEMIC AWARD WINNERS RELEASE

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The University of Akron was one of 102 schools nationwide to have its men's and women's soccer teams recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as 2023-24 Collegiate Team Academic Award winners.

Recognized for the 14th year in a row, the Zips' women's squad led by third-year head coach Jen Simonetti posted a 3.67 GPA this past academic year.

The Akron men's team under 12th-year head coach Jared Embick was recognized for the 17th consecutive year and 18th time overall after registering a cumulative 3.39 grade point average for the 2023-24 academic year.

To qualify for the award, the team must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 or higher for the entire academic year. The team GPA is determined by adding every player's GPA, then dividing by the number of players.
