Kipchirchir Garners NCAA Cross Country Championship Berth

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron men's cross country freshman Bismack Kipchirchir (Eldama Ravine, Kenya) earned the opportunity to showcase his talents at the biggest stage after his selection to the field for the NCAA Cross Country Championships hosted by Wisconsin at Thomas Zimmer Championship Course in Verona, Wis., on Saturday (Nov. 23) at 11:10 a.m. ET.

Kipchirchir will become the third Akron runner to qualify and compete at the NCAA Cross Country Championships in program history, joining Marc Migliozzi, who ran in the title race in 2019, as well as Timothy Chesondin, who earned All-America accolades a season ago.

Kipchirchir garnered All-Region accolades on the strength of traversing the 10K course at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional on Friday (Nov. 15) in a career-best time of 29:15.4 to finish fourth overall.
