NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The University of Akron cross country team garnered strong individual performances, including a school-record time from freshman Bismack Kipchirchir (Eldama Ravine, Kenya), at Joe Piane Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Oct. 4).

Freshman Bismack Kipchirchir (Eldama Ravine, Kenya) crossed the line first in the men's 8K race in a school-record time of 23:18.0, while sophomore Mary Munga (Nyandarau, Kenya) led the Zips in the women's 5K race with a time of 17:15.4.

Akron returns to competition traveling to Bowling Green, Ohio., for Falcon Invite on Oct. 19.
