21 Student-Athletes Earn Academic All-MAC Accolades for Akron Swimming & Diving

CLEVELAND, Ohio – The Akron Zips swimming and diving program landed 21 student-athletes on the Mid-American Conference All-Academic list, the league announced on Wednesday.
In all, 133 women's swimming and diving student-athletes from eight conference institutions were recognized as Bowling Green and Ohio placed 22 student-athletes on the team, while Akron followed with 21 honorees.
The Zips honorees include graduate Andrea Fischer (Oak Grove, Minn.), seniors Sara Bozso (Budapest, Hungary), Olivia DeRodes (Fremont, Ohio), Andrea Galisteo (Madrid, Spain), Weronika Gorecka (Wroclaw, Poland), Paige Kalik (Irwin, Pa.), Alyssa Riker (Portage, Mich.), Rachel Schiffli (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Gail Workman (Cincinnati, Ohio), juniors Giovanna Cappabianca (Hudson, Ohio), Madeline Dyer (Akron, Ohio), Madelyn Gatrall (Windsor, Ontario, Canada), Astrid Halvorsen (Stroemmen, Norway), Grace Nuhfer (Indianapolis, Ind.) and Rachel Sabotin (Columbus, Ind.), sophomores Kendall Craig (Evans City, Pa.), Abigail Daniel (Bristow, Va.), McKenzie Dunigan (Oviedo, Fla.), Julia Mauter (Winter Springs, Fla.), Rebecca Reid (Donaghadee, United Kingdom) and Laurel Smith (Knoxville, Tenn.).
To qualify for the Academic All-MAC Teams, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the scheduled contests and/or completed at the league championship in the particular sport.
