Campbell Selected as MAC Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - University of Akron softball sophomore Alexis Campbell (Indianapolis, Ind.) has been honored by the Mid-American Conference as its Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Maintaining a 3.933 GPA in biomedical engineering, Campbell helped lead Akron to a 3-2 record at the Tarleton Invitational this past weekend. In five games, she registered a .353 batting average on the strength of driving in a team-high eight RBI off six hits, including a pair of doubles, while scoring a pair of runs and posting a pair of sacrifice flies. She finished the weekend recording two RBI in four of Akron's five contests.

The Zips return to competition this weekend traveling to Chattanooga, Tenn., to compete at the Frost Classic.
