AKRON, Ohio - The 10th-ranked University of Akron rifle team is set to host a trio of ranked opponents this weekend as the Zips will conclude the home portion of their schedule.
Akron welcomes No. 5 Ole Miss to the Robert A. Pinn Shooting Range for a Senior Day showdown on Saturday, Jan. 21 starting at 9 a.m. The Zips then square off versus No. 3 West Virginia and No. 11 Ohio State in a 9 a.m. tilt on Sunday, Jan. 22.
Akron will honor its lone graduating senior Andre Gross (Webster, N.Y.) following its match with the Rebels on Saturday.
Freshman Andrew Duross (Marlborough, Mass.) directs Akron's performances on the campaign with a team-best 1174.40 combined average this season on the strength of a team-high mark in smallbore (583.40), while sophomore Alexis Kirk (Clarence Center, N.Y.) leads the squad's efforts in the air rifle (592.00).
