Richmond, Ky. – Sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) finished the 2022 Colonel Classic fourth overall with a 5-over par 221 performance after leading the field at the completion of 36-holes of play, while the Akron golf team finished sixth overall 295-308-313 – 916 (+52) at the University Club at Arlington.

David opened the tournament with a 2-under par 70 performance, collecting four birdies and 12 par scores to go along with two bogeys. She carried the momentum into the second 18-hole round by registering five birdies and nine par scores mixed with four bogeys for a 1-under par 71 effort. David's 3-under par total led the field after 36 holes of play, and she registered an 80 (+8) ledger to finish the tournament fourth overall.

Akron finished sixth in the team scoring at the par-72, 5,910-yard course as graduate student Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky.) followed in team scoring with a 232-stroke total (+16, 75-79-78) and sophomore Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) was two strokes behind on rounds of 75, 78 and 71. Juniors Jacinta PIkunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) rounded out the scoring with 237 (+21) and 239 (+23) totals.

Host EKU earned the team championship with a 14-overpar team tally (293-299-286 - 878) and Georgia State (303-298-299 - 900 +36) claimed runner-up, while EKU's Ragga Kristinsdottir captured medalist honors with a 4-under par performance (70-71-71 – 212)

The Zips are scheduled to be back in action at Bowling Green's Dolores Black Falcon Invite on Saturday and Sunday, April 9-10 at Stone Ridge Golf Club.
