Akron Set to Host Blue and Gold Family Weekend

AKRON, Ohio - University of Akron Athletics is set to host the Blue and Gold Family Weekend this Friday through Sunday, April 29 - May 1, headlined by the Spring Game for the Zips' Football program at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 30 at Stile Athletics Field House.
The Akron Football team under the leadership of first-year head coach Joe Moorhead will cap their spring drills with the Zips' Spring Game set to kick off a 3 p.m. on Saturday. Admission is free, and fans are asked to enter the game using the ramp at the Akron Recreation Center.
The weekend also features an Akron Athletic surplus sale on Saturday at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field beginning at 2 p.m. The unique event provides an opportunity for Zips Nation to purchase sports apparel, shoes, cleats and more at a discounted price. Both Gates One and Two of the stadium will be open for the sale with the line starting at Gate One to enter the sale.
Fans attending festivities on Saturday are asked to park in Lots 1 (Parking Deck and corners of Carroll and Spicer Streets), Lot 8 (behind Ocasek Natatorium), Lot 9 (behind InfoCision Stadium located at corners of Spicer and Exchange Streets) and Lot 10 (behind Stile Athletics Field House). Parking on South Union and Vine Streets will be closed.
The weekend will begin with the Akron Baseball team hosting rival Kent State at Skeeles Field as part of the Wagon Wheel Challenge in a 3 p.m. game on Friday, April 29. The Zips' Softball team also hosts Miami in the start of a three-game series at 3 p.m. at Jackson Field
The Zips and Golden Flashes return to action in a noon doubleheader on Saturday, while softball concludes its weekend set versus the RedHawks with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
The Akron Lacrosse team wraps up its 2022 campaign on Saturday welcoming Central Michigan to InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field for a match at noon.
