SAN MARCOS, Texas - University of Akron track and field junior Lizzy Gurko (Northfield, Ohio) won the women's 3,000-meter steeplechase in a career-best time of 10:58.34 to direct the efforts of the Zips on Friday, March 25 on the second day of the Bobcat Invitational.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
• Sophomore Caleb Mabins (Erie, Pa.) equaled a personal-best mark of 24-0.25 (7.32m) to place second in the men's long jump.
• Freshman Abby Knouff (Tallmadge, Ohio) placed fifth in the women's pole vault eclipsing a career-best mark of 13-3.50 (4.05m)
• Sophomore William Gross (Newfane, N.Y.) and Jabari Neal-Jackson (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished second and third, respectively, in the men's hammer posting marks of 202-6 (61.72m) and 200-6 (61.13m). Neal-Jackson's performance stands as a career-best throw.
