AKRON, Ohio -Â The University of Akron lacrosse team will be tested by a pair of matches this week as the Zips travel to Birmingham, Mich., to battle Detroit on Wednesday, March 16, before entertaining Radford at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field on Sunday, March 20, for an 11 a.m. match.

SCOUTING AKRON:
Directing Akron's offensive exploits this season has been the duo of junior Alexis Kiefer (West Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Noelle Boyd (Murrysville, Pa.), who own 54 and 39 shots, respectively. Kiefer, Boyd and freshman Izzy Szejk (Camp Hill, Pa.) have posted a team-high 17, 15 and six goals, respectively, while Boyd has registered team-best marks in points (18), draw controls (51) and ground balls (24), while ranking second in goals (15), assists (3) and shots (39). Sophomore GK Ashley Lapp (Missouri City, Texas) has turned in 70 saves for Akron on the year.

Kiefer rates first in the MAC in shots (54), second in shots per outing (6.75), fourth in goals (17) and sixth in overall points (17). Boyd is ranked fifth in points (18), seventh in goals (15) and in shots (39), ninth in goals per game (1.88) and 10th in points per contest (2.25). Lapp ranks second in the conference in goals against average (11.26), saves (70) and saves per tilt (8.75) and third in save percentage (.467).

SCOUTING DETROIT:
Akron is meeting Detroit for the third time in program history with the Zips leading the all-time series, 2-0. The Titans are off to an 0-6 start on the campaign, including a 0-3 mark in league play, following a 12-11 setback at Youngstown State on Saturday, March 12. Sophomore Cat Kopchia directs the Detroit offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (10), points (12) and shots (27). The trio of GK in junior Hannah Shrader, freshman Meredith Leavell and senior Maddie Johnson have combined to collect 56 saves on the campaign for the Titans. Detroit is led by third-year head coach Dwayne Hicks, who owns a 3-18 ledger as a head coach.

Akron is encountering Radford for the first time in program history. The Highlanders are off to an 0-5 start on the campaign in advance of their home showdown versus VCU on Wednesday, March 16. Junior Margaret Gleason headlines the Radford offensive attack with team-high marks in goals (6), points (8), shots (14), shots on goal (12), while ranking third in draw controls (8) and fifth in ground balls (6). Sophomore GK Olivia Hunter has recorded 52 saves on the campaign for the Highlanders. Radford is led by first-year head coach Samantha Hurley, who owns a 0-5 ledger and maintains a 34-30 mark in five seasons as a head coach overall.

Goalkeeper Ashley Lapp is rated 11th in the NCAA in saves (70), 28th in save percentage (.467), 31st in saves per game (8.75) and 41st in goals against average (11.26). Boyd is ranked 13th in ground balls per tilt (3.00), 20th in draw controls per contest (6.38) and 40th in free position percentage (.625), while Alexis Kiefer is 26th in shots on goal per tilt (5.25), 28th in free position percentage (.667), 30th in shots per outing (6.75) and 40th in free position percentage (.625). Juniors Jenna Ridener (Cincinnati, Ohio) and Julia Frombach (Avon, Ohio) are rated 41st in caused turnovers per match (1.62), while junior Abby McMullen (Medina, Ohio) is ranked 21st in ground balls per game (2.88).
