AKRON, Ohio – Akron sophomore Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) and junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) led the Akron women's golf team in scoring at the 2021 Nittany Lion Invitational with a pair of 221 (+5) performances at Penn State's 6,115-yard, Par-72 White Course.

Hahn opened the tournament with a career-best 3-under par 69 score and followed with rounds of 77 (+5) and 75 (+3) for her 54-hole total, while Shah posted scores of 74 (+2), 73 (+1) and 74 (+2). Both, Hahn and Shah finished tied for 21st overall.

Akron placed ninth overall in team scoring, firing a 289 (+1) opening round followed by rounds of 300 (+12) and 301 (+13) for an 890 (+26) finish. Supporting the Zips' scoring efforts were sophomore Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio – T35 (+7) 75-73-75 – 223), graduate transfer Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky. – T53 (+12) 72-77-79 - 228) and Junior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio – T60 (+13) 74-78-77 - 229). In addition, Senior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) competed as an individual and finished tied for 76th overall (+23, 75-81-83 – 239).

Penn State held on for the tournament win, claiming the title by 12 strokes with a 286-281-284 - 851 (-13) ledger. The Nittany Lions' Mathilde Delavallade earned medalist honors with a 10-under par 69-68-69 - 206 performance, while Delaware's Oihana Etxezarreta and Princeton's Victoria Liu Princeton finished runner-up with 209 (-7) scores.

Up next, the Zips are scheduled to travel to the Roseanne Schwartz Invitational hosted by Youngstown State on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 13-14 at Mill Creek Golf Club's North Course.
