Boardman, Ohio – The University of Akron women's golf team is currently leading the way at the Roseann Schwartz Invitational hosted by Youngstown State as the Zips fired a 297 (+9) team score on Monday.

Akron leads the 15-team field by five strokes at Mill Creek Golf Course's par 72 North Course that stretches 6,088 yards. After 18 holes of play, Cleveland State 302 (+14) is in the runner-up position, while Detroit Mercy 306 (+18), Youngstown State 306 (+18) and Evansville 308 (+20) rounds out the top five teams.

Senior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) leads the Zips' scoring efforts with a 1-under par 71 performance. Pearce currently ranks second overall, while sophomores Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) and Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) third and seventh, respectively. David is tied for the third position with a 73 (+1) score and Hahn owns a 74 (+2). Graduate transfer Ke'Asha Phillips (Owensboro, Ky.) and junior Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) round out the Zips five scorer's with 79 (+7) and 87 (+15) scores. Competing as individuals are junior Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) and sophomore Riley Dean (Lewis Center, Ohio) with 78 (+6) and 85 (+13) opening round scores.

Tuesday's final round of the 36-hole tournament is scheduled for a shotgun start slated for 9 a.m. No live scoring for this event.
