AKRON, Ohio - Central Michigan (14-26, 12-18 MAC) swept a Mid-American Conference doubleheader from the University of Akron softball team on Friday, May 7 at Lee R. Jackson Field as the Chippewas registered 11-0 and 10-0 triumphs past the Zips (8-38, 7-25 MAC).

In the opener, Central Michigan parlayed a seven-run second inning into a victory over Akron.

The Zips garnered hits in the affair from senior RF Macky Mitchiner (Riverside, Calif.) and redshirt freshman CF Tiffany Stevens (Toledo, Ohio).

In the nightcap, the Chippewas scored four runs in their first at-bat to assume a lead they didn't relinquish.

Freshman 2B Madison Dudek (Uniontown, Ohio) finished the game 2-for-3 at the plate for Akron, while adding one hit apiece was redshirt junior DP Lauren Holdsworth (Howell, Mich.), senior LF Jessie Holzman (Medina, Ohio), freshman 3B Kalli Macintosh-Houlder (Mississauga, Ontario), Stevens and freshman 1B Atlantis Taufa (Fullerton, Calif.).

Akron is slated to close out its home campaign with a doubleheader versus Central Michigan on Saturday, May 8. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. The Zips will honor their seniors following the conclusion of the second game.
