David Leads Zips at Spring Break Shootout

Dade City, Fla. – The Akron Zips women's golf team was back on the course on Monday and Tuesday, March 15-16, at Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club's South Course as freshman Jennifer David (Hudson, Ohio) led the Zips with a 229 (+16) showing.

David carded rounds of 75 (+4), 78 (+7) and 76 (+5) at the par-71 course that stretched 6,056 yards. During the 54-hole event, she registered 31 par scores and five birdies en route to a 45th overall finish.

Sophomore Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) and freshman Jessica Hahn (Canton, Ohio) followed with 47th overall finishes as the duo recoded 230 (+17) final scores. Shah used rounds of 82 (+11), 73 (+2) and 75 (+4), while Hahn submitted an 80 (+9), 75 (+3) and 75 (+3) ledger.

Redshirt sophomore Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and junior Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) rounded out the team scoring with 233 (+20) and 245 (+32) scores, respectively. Pikunas finished tied for 60th overall and Pearce was 80th overall.

The Zips opened the tournament with a 311 (+27) team tally and ranked 14th out of the 15 participating teams. The Zips shave nine strokes of the team score during the second 18-hole round to climb one spot on the team leaderboard with 302 (+18), finishing the 36-hole day with a 613 (+45) ledger. During Tuesday's final round, the Zips posted a 307 (+23), bringing the 54-hole total to 920 (+68). Akron remained and finished at 13th overall.

North Florida won the Spring Break Shootout with a 857 (+5) team score, while Seminole State was runner-up with a 863 (+11) performance. Seminole State's Minori Nagano earned medalist honors with a 204 (-9) tournament total and North Florida's Christin Eisenbeiss was runner-up with a 208 (-5) finish.

Akron will be back in action on Monday and Tuesday, March 29-30, at The University Club at Arlington in Richmond, Ky. for the Colonel Classic hosted by Eastern Kentucky.
