FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Akron track and field junior Nuh Andu (Doha, Qatar) garnered second-team All-America accolades with his 11th-place performance in the men's high jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by the University of Arkansas on Friday, March 12.
Andu earned All-America honors for the first time in his decorated Zips' career finishing 11th in the men's field with a mark of 6-11.75 (2.13m).
Clearing the opening height of 6-9.75 (2.08m) on his second attempt at the mark, Andu followed besting the succeeding bar of 6-11.75 (2.13m) on his opening run at the height.
Andu was unsuccessful in each of his three attempts at eclipsing 7-1.75 (2.18m) and rounded out his indoor campaign with his performance.
Akron freshman Hunter Garretson (Newcomerstown, Ohio) will take his turn on the nation stage competing in the men's pole vault at 1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday, March 13.
Garretson has gone undefeated in 2021 in the men's pole vault, including victories in six meets. He is ranked No. 10 in the NCAA in the pole vault and was selected as the MAC Men's Freshman Field Athlete of the Year following his record-setting weekend at the MAC Championships in which he captured his first league title eclipsing 17-9.75 (5.43m), the fourth-best mark in indoor program history.
