Eldesouky Earns MAC Field Athlete of the Week Honors

MAC TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio – University of Akron track and field senior Hesham Eldesouky (Nasr City, Egypt) was recognized by the Mid-American Conference as its Men's Field Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Wednesday, Feb. 17.
Eldesouky is the second Zip to earn weekly league honors this season, joining junior Amir Willis (Cincinnati, Ohio), who garnered accolades on Jan. 20.
Eldesouky bested the field in the men's triple jump at the Doug Raymond Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 13, with a league-leading mark of 51-8.50 (15.76m).
The top-three marks in the MAC in the triple jump occurred at the meet with Eldesouky's effort nearly three feet better than his closest competitors.
His jump stands as the No. 17 effort in the NCAA this season.
In its final tune-up before the upcoming MAC Indoor Track and Field Championships, Feb. 26-27, the University of Akron men's and women's track and field teams will host the Al Campbell Invitational this Friday, Feb. 19 at the Stile Athletics Field House.
