AKRON, Ohio– Akron Athletics announced its Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representatives and Executive Board for the 2020-21 academic year on Friday.
SAAC is made up of student-athletes assembled to give insight on the student-athlete experience. The committee also offers input on the rules, regulations, and policies that affect student-athletes' lives on NCAA member institution campuses.
SAAC representatives are selected by their teams.
Serving on the 2020-21 Executive Board are:
President: Oliver Huffman (men's track & field)
Vice President: Cameron Lyons (football)
Secretary/Treasurer: Kayla Barreca (women's track & field)
Events: Jacinta Pikunas (women's golf)
Community Service: Alayna Dunphy (women's lacrosse); Andrea Fischer (swimming & diving)
At-Large: Daniel Strachan (men's soccer); Cierra Terrizzi (rifle)
Team representatives are:

Additionally, Huffman and Lyons will serve on COSA, the committee for Mid-American Conference SAAC members.
"We are excited to announce the SAAC representatives for 2020-21," said Senior Associate Athletics Director for Programming and Leadership Anne Jorgensen. "These student-athletes represent their athletic teams in the coordination of leadership, community involvement, and support, and dedication to The University of Akron, the Department of Athletics, and the MAC."
Last month, Akron's SACC was the recipient of the Student-Community Partnership Award which recognizes a collaboration outside the framework of a course between UA students and a community partner that strengthened UA/community connections and enriched both education and the fabric of the Akron community.
During the 2019-20 academic year, SAAC partnered with the 2nd & 7 Foundation and six local school districts to establish a reading program with second grade classrooms.
