AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron men's track and field squad stands at No. 39 in the latest United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field National Rating Index released this week.
The Zips' men's squad is rated fifth in the most-current Great Lakes Regional ratings, while the women's team checks in at No. 8. Both marks are tops in the Mid-American Conference.
The Zips are the top-rated MAC team ranked in the men's national poll.
In the Event Squad rankings released on April 8, Akron is ranked second nationally in the men's pole vault and among the top 20 in four different events.
Akron is also rated sixth in the men's long jump, 13th in the women's 400-meter hurdles and 15th in the men's javelin. Additionally, the Zips are 22nd in the men's 110-meter hurdles and 25th in the women's triple jump.
The Akron men's and women's track and field teams are scheduled to be off of competition this weekend before traveling to California to partake in a pair of meets, April 17-20.
