Â
AKRON, Ohio— University of Akron football added another Power 5 opponent to its future non-conference schedule on Monday.
Â
The Zips will visit Indiana on Sept. 23, 2023, for a game at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington.
Â
"It will be a thrill to compete against another Big Ten opponent," said UA Director of Athletics Larry Williams. "It is an opportunity that our student-athletes greatly value, as IU has made some real solid progress in moving their program forward, and our supporters will have a wonderful time at a classic football weekend in Bloomington."Â
Â
Since 2007, Akron and Indiana (3-0) have met three times on the gridiron. In 2007, the Hoosiers captured a 41-24 win at home. In 2009, IU visited the Rubber Bowl and left with a 38-21 victory. In the teams' last meeting in 2010, Indiana recorded a 35-20 home win.
Â
Returning 51 letterwinners, Akron hosts its Spring Showcase on Saturday, April 13, at Noon at InfoCision Stadium. Admission and parking are FREE.
Â
Akron opens the 2019 season at Illinois on August 31. The home opener is slated for Sept. 7 against UAB.
