16 Zips Earn Academic All-MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Honors

2019 Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-Mid-American Conference Release
CLEVELAND, Ohio – The University of Akron women's swimming and diving team earned 16 selections as the Mid-American Conference released its 2019 Women's Swimming and Diving Academic All-MAC teams on Friday, April 5.
The 16 honorees is a program-tying record for the Zips. Akron placed 16 student-athletes on the 2017 Academic All-MAC team.
A total of 129 student-athletes from eight different conference institutions were named to this year's team including; seniors Emily Christophersen (Noblesville, Ind.), Karly Crail (Edgewood, Ky.), Ragen Engel (Springfield, Ohio), Emma King (Centerville, Ohio) and Hannah Smith (Beavercreek, Ohio), juniors Katelyn Applin (Dansville, N.Y.), Jessica Bonezzi (Wooster, Ohio), Ellie Nebraska (Delaware, Ohio), Jackie Pash (Carmel, Ind.), Mackenzie Vargas (Roseville, Calif.), Morgan Waggoner (Fremont, Ohio) and sophomores Andrea Bugariu (Troy, Mich.), Brooke Lamoureux (Belleville, Ontario), Annie Lochridge (North Canton, Ohio), Paulina Nogaj (Radom, Poland) and Ally Wharton (New Albany, Ohio).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
