Naperville, Ind. – The Akron Zips women's golf team opened the 54-hole Mid-American Conference Women's Golf Championships with a 317 (+29) which currently ranks fourth overall on Friday at the Par 72, 6,125-yard Purgatory Golf Club.

Senior Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) and freshman Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) lead the Zips' scoring efforts with 78 (+6) scores. Both golfers enter the second round ranked tied for ninth on the tournament's player leaderboard.

Sophomore Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) and senior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) followed with Top 25 performances with 80 (+8) and 81 (+9) scores, respectively. Pearce is tied for 20th and Nicholson sits tied at 23rd overall.

Rounding out Akron's scoring is junior Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.). Wentworth carded an 84 (+12) tally which was good for a stalemate at 39^th-place.

Toledo's 303 (+15) leads the field by two strokes as Kent State 305 (+17) and Northern Illinois 310 (+22). The Rockets' Saranlak Tumfong fired a field-low 74 (+2) to lead the individual scoring by one stroke over a three-way tie for second.

Saturday's second round tee times are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 12:10 with every golfer starting on hole No. 1. Wentworth will get the Zips started at 10:40 a.m. while Nicholson (10:50), Pearce (11:00), Dull (11:10) and Shah (11:20) follow.
