Zips Announce Scheduling Change to Northeast Ohio Quad

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron track and field team has announced scheduling changes for the upcoming Northeast Ohio Quad to be contested at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex, April 5-6.
In conjunction with Youngstown State University, the running and jumping events for the annual meet that features student-athletes from Akron, Ashland, Kent State and Youngstown State, will be hosted by the Penguins at Farmers National Bank Field (MAP) in Youngstown, Ohio, on Friday, April 5, beginning with the men's long jump at 12:30 p.m.
The throwing events will be contested at the Lee R. Jackson Track and Field Complex on the University of Akron campus on Saturday, April 6, starting with the men's hammer at 10 a.m.
"We are thrilled that head coach Brian Gorby and the Youngstown State Athletic Department has been so receptive in allowing us to host a portion of our annual Northeast Ohio Quad, a meet that gathers some of the best local and national talent in the region, on their campus," Akron head track and field coach Dennis Mitchell commented. "It also remained a priority for our program to continue the tradition of our student-athletes competing on their own track. We are happy that we will be able provide that opportunity with the throwing events being held here."
The Zips continue their spring campaign this weekend as the Zips will be compete at the Texas Relays in Austin, Texas, as well as the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas.
