AKRON, Ohio – The Akron Zips opened the 2019-20 season with a 90-38 win over the visiting Tiffin Dragons in a women's basketball exhibition contest Sunday afternoon at James A. Rhodes Arena.

Akron played well on both ends of the court, scoring the game's first 17 points to build a double-digit lead that held up throughout the game. Senior forward Haliegh Reinoehl (Westfield, Ind.) led Akron in scoring and rebounding, while Aarion Nichols took game-high scoring honors for Tiffin.

It was the lone exhibition contest of the season for Akron, which opens its regular season on Nov. 10 in a road contest against St. Bonaventure. Tip-off between the Zips and Bonnies is scheduled for 1 p.m. and live stats are available at GoZips.com.

The home portion of the schedule begins Nov. 15 when the Zips host Purdue Fort Wayne at 4:30 p.m. in the second game of the day in the Akron Classic.
