AKRON, Ohio – The Akron track and field team opened the 15th Annual Akron Invitational on Thursday, Jan. 31, with senior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio) capturing the women's discus with a mark of 168-7 (51.38m) at the Stile Athletics Field House.
Wilson registered her winning mark on her second throw of the evening to win the 12-competitor field.
In the men's field, redshirt sophomore Jonathan Neeley (Youngstown, Ohio) placed sixth with a toss of 145-9 (44.44m).
The Akron Invitational resumes on Friday, Feb. 1, with competition getting underway with the Blue Division men's and women's pole vault and men's long jump at 4 p.m. before running events, including the community mile, get underway at 8 p.m.
