Geier Named Zips’ Student-Athlete of the Week

AKRON, Ohio – Redshirt senior Sophia Geier (Burgebrach, Germany) was tabbed the Zips' Summa Health Student-Athlete of the Week on September 25.
At the Akron Invitational against Cleveland State, Louisville, and Youngstown State, the Zips' captain returned to action for the first time in over a year and went undefeated in singles play en route to the tourney singles title.
Geier registered straight set wins in each of her three victories.
In doubles action, the veteran teamed with true freshman Holland Long (Rochester, N.Y.). The duo went 2-1 at No. 2 doubles in Long's collegiate debut.
Geier earned a bachelor's degree in sport management in May 2018. She is pursuing an M.B.A.
Akron travels to the Detroit Mercy Invitational on Sept. 28-29.
