Akron to Join Iowa State in Honoring Golfer

AKRON, Ohio – The University of Akron football team will join its opponent Iowa State on Saturday in honoring Cyclone golfer Celia Barquin Arozamena.

Barquin Aromzamena – the 2018 Big 12 Women's Golf Champion, an honored scholar and a renowned ambassador for Iowa State University – was killed Monday in a senseless act of violence.

The Zips and Cyclones will wear "CBA" helmet stickers.

Fans attending the game are asked to wear yellow, Celia's favorite color.

The family has established an official memorial fund named the "Remembering Celia Memorial Fund." The funds collected will be directed to Celia's family to be used to honor her memory. Checks should be made payable to the Remembering Celia Memorial Fund and directed to:

Under the guidance of seventh-year head coach Terry Bowden, Akron (2-0 overall) and Iowa State (0-2 overall) take the field at Jack Trice Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 22, at Noon ET. The game will be shown on FSN.
