COLUMBUS, Ohio – The University of Akron senior Maurice Harris (Toledo, Ohio) led the Zips' efforts on the final day of the Jesse Owens Classic hosted by Ohio State on Saturday, April 21, registering fourth- and eighth-place finishes in the men's discus and shot put.

Harris posted a mark of 173-10 (53.00m) in the men's discus before registering a throw of 54-8 (16.66m) in the men's shot put.

Freshman Steven Ashcraft (Canton, Ohio) turned in Akron's fastest time of the year in the men's 800 meters crossing the line in a career-best time of 1:52.66 to place fifth.

Collecting career-best times of 2:16.77 and 2:17.29 in the women's 800 meters was freshman Leah Recker (Findlay, Ohio) and sophomore Victoria Stachowski (Waterford, Mich.). The times are the top-two marks in the event for the Zips this season.

Akron will compete in a trio of meets next weekend partaking the Ashland Alumni Invitational, Hillsdale College Gina Relays and the LSU Invitational.

Triple Jump: Tanea Cousins (20th-34-6.75/10.53m); 800 Meters: Leah Recker (22nd-2:16.77*), Victoria Stachowski (24th-2:17.29*); 400-Meter Hurdles: Sydney Stokes (10th-62.99*)
