Akron Fifth After 36 Holes of the 2018 MAC Women’s Golf Championships

Naperville, Ill. – The Akron Zips women's golf team enters the final round of the 2018 Mid-American Conference Golf Championships in fifth place after carding a 306 (+18) on Saturday.
The Zips currently own a 616 (+40) tournament total at the par-72, 6,092-yard Naperville Country Club. Kent State leads the team scoring with a 9-under par 567 two-round score while Toledo (603, +27), Northern Illinois (607, +31), and Eastern Michigan (614, +38) follow.
Kent State's Pimnipa Panthong continues to lead the individual race with a 5-under 139 total. The Golden Flashes also have Karoline Stormo (141, -3), Michaela Finn (143, -1) and Chloe Salort (144, E) ranked in the Top 5.
Akron junior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) led the Zips' second round scoring. She fired a 1-over par 73 score to go along with an opening round 78 (+6) for a 151 (+7) total. Nicholson is currently tied for the 12th position on the leaderboard.
Freshmen Jacinta Pikunas (Youngstown, Ohio) and Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) added 76 (+4) performances to the Zips' total. Pikunas is currently leading Akron's tournament scoring efforts with a 73-76 – 149 (+5) ledger, ranking tied for eighth overall. Pearce is tied for 31st with a 161 (+17) total.
Rounding out Akron's day two scoring were senior Pader Her (Holt, Mich.) and sophomore Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.) with a pair of 81 (+9) scores. Her currently ranks 20th overall with a 151 (+11), while Wentworth is tied at 45th place 167 (+23) tally.
The final round of the 2018 MAC Championships is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. ET from holes No. 1 and 10 on Sunday. Akron is set to tee-off at 10 a.m. ET from hole No. 1 with Wentworth leading the way. Pearce, Her, Nicholson, and Pikunas are scheduled to follow Wentworth in 10-minute intervals.
