LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Akron juniors Dara Perry (Akron, Ohio) and Curtis Richardson (Blacklick, Ohio) registered victories in the women's 100-meter hurdles and men's high jump to direct the Zips' efforts at the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate hosted by Long Beach State on Thursday, April 19.

Richardson captured the men's high jump eclipsing 6-9.50 (2.07m), while Perry won the women's 100-meter hurdles crossing the line in 13.41.

Registering a career-best and No. 4 mark in program history in the women's shot put with a throw of 50-4 (15.34m) was junior Abigale Wilson (Carrollton, Ohio).

Taking second in the men's 200 meters with a time of 21.50 was senior Taron Slone (Columbus, Ohio), while sophomore Marcques Gibbs (Darby, Pa.) placed third in the men's triple jump with a career-best mark of 48-0.50 (14.64m).

Junior Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) facing a field in the men's pole vault that included Chris Nilsen, who is rated second nationally, cleared 17-1 (5.21m), the second-highest mark, to place fourth based on jumps.

The Zips return to competition at the Mt. Sac Relays and Beach Invitational on Friday and Saturday, April 20-21, in Torrance and Long Beach, Calif., respectively. Additionally, Akron will run at the Jesse Owens Classic on Friday and Saturday as well.
