Nicholson Finishes in Top 25 of 29th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational

Lexington, Ky. – Senior Danielle Nicholson (Geneva, Ohio) fired a final round even-par 72 score en route to a Top 25 finish on Sunday at the 29th annual Bettie Lou Evans Invitational on Sunday.

Nicholson paced the Zips' scoring efforts with a 74-75-72 – 221 (+5) tournament total. During the final round, she carded 12 pars and three birdies, directing Akron to a 308-305-297 – 910 (+46) 54-hole total. Akron finished 11th overall.

Following Nicholson in scoring for Akron was senior Makayla Dull (Fremont, Ohio) with a 79-73-77 – 229 (+13). She finished tied at 47th overall, while sophomore Abbie Pearce (Green, Ohio) recorded her best round of the tournament to finish tied at 57th place. Pearce posted a 75 (+3) round to go along with a 78 (+6) and 80 (+8) for a 233 (+17) ledger.

Also finishing at 233 (+17) was junior Allyson Wentworth (Stewartsville, N.J.). Wentworth arrived at the stalemate with Pearce with rounds of 77-82-74 – 233 (+17), while freshman Ivana Shah (Mumbai, India) completed the scoring 81-77-76 – 234 (+18).

Kentucky won the tournament with a 6-under par 585 team score, and Penn State was runner-up at 4-under par with an 860 score. UK's Leonie Bettel claimed medalist honors with an 11-under par 205 performance, and the Nittany Lion's Cara Basso earned runner-up at 207 (-9).

Akron is scheduled to wrap-up its Fall schedule at the Fall Preview hosted by Central Michigan at the Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville, Ind. on Sunday and Monday, Oct. 14-15.
