Zips’ Athletics Extends Contract with IMG

AKRON, Ohio– The University of Akron Athletics Department announced a 10-year multimedia rights extension with IMG on Monday.
The existing deal has two years remaining with an additional eight years now added on to extend the relationship through 2028. IMG has represented Akron's multimedia rights since 2007.
As part of the extension, Akron will be installing a new state-of-the-art videoboard in James A. Rhodes Arena – the first of many upgrades the University is implementing to enhance the fan experience at events.
"We are fortunate to have had IMG College as a wonderful partner with Akron Athletics for the past 10 years," said Director of Athletics Larry Williams. "IMG College is a leader in the multi-media rights industry. They have built tremendous local and national relationships, and we are looking forward to many years of working together to realize our vision for Akron Athletics."
"We are proud to continue working alongside the University of Akron to assist in building Zips Athletics," said Tim Pernetti, President, IMG College. "We look forward to the next decade of partnership with Akron and to providing solutions – like the new videoboard at Rhodes Arena – that empower the school and create a dynamic fan experience."
IMG's multimedia rights relationship with Akron includes the exclusive representation and management of the Akron-IMG Radio Network, in-venue signage and promotions, video board features, retail promotions utilizing Akron Athletics logos, corporate hospitality, gameday promotions, digital solutions, and endorsements for coaches.
