AKRON, Ohio – A national championship, success in competition and in the classroom, and a third Reese Trophy highlighted the 2016-17 academic calendar year as Zips Athletics published its Annual Report on Monday.

The 2016-17 season featured an NCAA Championship by sophomore pole vaulter Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio), seven Mid-American Conference team titles won, 26 individual MAC Championships. Zips' student-athletes earned 13 All-America honors, 85 All-MAC selections, 131 Academic All-MAC awards, 52 MAC Distinguished Student-Athlete designations, and 17 Academic All-America honors among other conference and regional awards.

The Zips won the 2016-17 Reese Trophy as the Mid-American Conference's top men's athletics program for the second consecutive year and third time in four years (2014, 2016, 2017).

In the classroom, student-athletes posted a 3.026 GPA for the 2016-17 academic year, with 66 students earning degrees. More than 185 student-athletes made the Dean's List with a 3.5 GPA with 40 student-athletes earning President's List recognition with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
