Ludwig Tabbed by MAC as Men's Field Athlete of the Week

MID-AMERICAN CONFERENCE TRACK AND FIELD ATHLETES OF THE WEEK RELEASE
CLEVELAND, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference released its weekly MAC Track and Field Athletes of the Week recipients on Tuesday, Jan. 31, and University of Akron sophomore pole vaulter Matt Ludwig (Chardon, Ohio) was among those honored.
Ludwig was selected as the MAC Men's Field Athlete of the Week after registering the fifth-best jump (17-9/5.41m) in program history at the Penn State National on Friday, Jan. 27, en route to placing second in the men's pole vault invitational.
The mark was the 10th-best in the country in 2017. Ludwig finished second in the competition only to Virginia Tech's Deakin Volz, who claimed the 2016 IAAF U-20 World Championship.
The accolade represents the fifth individual award, respectively, for a Zip in 2017.
The Zips return to competition hosting the 13th annual Akron Invitational this Friday and Saturday, Feb. 3-4, at the Stile Athletics Field House.
