Sport Psychologist Maniar to Work with Zips

AKRON, Ohio – Zips Athletics has retained the services of Sam Maniar, Ph.D., to provide mental health and performance enhancement consultation for student-athletes and coaches, Senior Associate Athletics Director Mary Lu Gribschaw announced on Friday.
Maniar will provide counseling and sport psychology services as an extension of the sports medicine department.
"We are committed to developing and caring for our student-athletes in a multitude of ways," Gribschaw said. "By bringing in the Center for Peak Performance and Dr. Maniar, we believe our student-athletes and coaches will be better equipped to handle the unique challenges and opportunities that Division I sports provide. We feel fortunate to be able to retain Sam, as he has extensive experience working with athletes from all sports and has the ability to relate to student-athletes from various backgrounds."
The president of the Center for Peak Performance, Maniar is a licensed psychologist in the state of Ohio who specializes in working with athletes. He has worked with thousands of professional, Olympic, college, and high school athletes, including student-athletes from Ohio State, Washington State, West Virginia, and Montana. For the last two years, he served as the fulltime sport psychologist for the Cleveland Browns.
