Akron Enters Final Round at The Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate in 12th Place

Kannapolis, N.C. – After finishing the first round tied for 12th place, the Akron Zips men's golf team improved by eight strokes in the second round to remain 12th overall after 36-holes at The Cabarrus County Irish Creek Collegiate on Saturday.
The Zips fired a 303 (+19) first round and followed with a 295 (+11) for a 598 (+30) two-round total. Kennesaw State, 567 (-1), leads the 16-team field by one stroke heading into the final day of competition at the 7,099-yard par 71 The Club at Irish Creek course.
Sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England) led the Zips' scoring and currently ranks 25th overall with a 147 (+5) tally. He fired rounds of 72 (+1) and 75 (+4) while collecting 24 pars, seven bogeys, four birdies and a double-bogey.
Senior Ryan Harris (Carlisle, Mass.) followed in team scoring with a 46th-best 150 (+8) 36-hole total. He recorded rounds of 76 (+5) and 74 (+3) while clibing four spots on the leaderboard during the second round.
Junior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche, France) and freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) added scores of 151 (+9) and 152 (+10), respectively, finishing 52nd and 59th overall. Pfeiffer used rounds of 80 (+9) and a team-low 71 even-par score while Grayson carded 77 (+6) ad 75 (+4).
Junior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.) rounded out the scoring with a 155 (+13) on rounds of 78 (+7) and 77 (+6).
