DES MOINES, Iowa - Senior Claudia Garcia Jou (Barcelona, Spain) headlined the efforts of the Akron track and field team at the Drake Relays on Friday, April 29, winning the women's high jump with a clearance of 5-11.25 (1.81m).
Redshirt junior Natalie Zidd (Hinckley, Ohio) placed 11th in the 800 meters in 2:11.14, while redshirt junior Ana Martin-Sacristan (Valencia, Spain) and junior Daniella Johnson (Gahanna, Ohio) finished 14th and 19th, respectively, in the women's long jump with marks of 18-10 (4.74m) and 18-4.50 (5.60m).
In the men's pole vault, junior Matt Rowland (Bellevue, Ohio) turned in an eighth-place performance eclipsing 16-10.75 (5.15m).
The Zips continue competition at the Drake Relays on Saturday, April 30.
