Greenville, S.C. – The Akron Zips men's golf team finished fourth out of 19 teams at the 47^th Annual Furman Intercollegiate after registering a 293 (+5) final round team score. The Zips finished the 54-hole event at the Furman University Golf Course with a 5-under par 859 strokes led by a fourth place 7-under par 209 stroke effort from sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England).

Baylis climbed three spots on the leaderboard by firing a final round 2-under par 70 with 16 pars and two birdies. He added rounds of 68 (-4) and 71 (-1) while finishing the event with 38 pars, seven birdies, six bogeys, and three eagles.

Senior Ryan Harris (Carlisle, Mass.) finished 12^th overall and was second in team scoring. Harris carded rounds of 69 (-3), 70 (-2), and 73 (+1) for a 212 (-4) tournament total. He recorded 29 pars, 15 birdies, nine bogeys, and a double-bogey.

Freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) notched a career-best 67 (-5) and followed with 74 (+2) final round showing. He opened the tournament with a 77 (+5) and finished 32^nd overall with a 218 (+2) three-day total with 33 pars, 12 bogeys, eight birdies, and an eagle.

Rounding out the Zips' scoring were junior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.) and senior Louis Birchall (Ingestre Park, England). Williams finished 49^th overall with a 220 (+4) tournament total on a pair of 76 (+4) scores (rd. 1 and rd. 2) and a 68 (-4).

Birchall placed 93^rd overall with a 230 (+14) 54-hole total. Birchall tallied a pair of 79 (+7) scores on the first and final rounds while recording an even-par 72 on round two.

Georgia State maintained their lead, winning the tournament championship with a 23-under par 841 team score while USC Upstate's Ryan Cornfield earned medalist with a 13-under par 209 54-hole total.

The Zips will be back in action on Sunday and Monday, April 3-4, at the Bulls Bay Golf Course in Awendaw, S.C.
