Wexford Intercollegiate – Day Two

Zips Start Final Round of Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate from the 12th Position

Kiawah Island, S.C. – The University of Akron men's golf team fired a second round 289 to overcome a first round 308 team total, finishing 12th with a 597 (+21) at the Wexford Plantation Intercollegiate hosted by Francis Marion University.
Senior Louis Birchall (Ingestre Park, England) led the Zips with an opening round 73 (+1) and followed with a 1-under par 71 for an even-par 144 two-round total. He is currently tied for 13th on the leaderboard. Redshirt freshman Elliott Grayson (Shelby, N.C.) followed with a 150 (+6) two-round total, carding rounds of 77 (+5) and 73 (+1) for 39th overall.
Junior Yann Pfeiffer (Saint-Nom-la-Breteche, France) recorded the team's lowest round of the day with a career-best 3-under par 69 en route to a 153 (+9) 36-hole total. Pfeiffer opened the day with an 84 (+12). Rounding out the Zips' scoring were sophomore George Baylis (Ascot, England) and junior J.B. Williams (Danville, Ky.) with identical two-round totals. Baylis and Williams opened the spring season with a pair of 79's (+7) and followed with a pair of 76's (+4) which is tied for 68th on the leader board at 155 (+11) strokes.
In addition, junior Zach Gollwitzer (Ballwin, Mo.) competed as an individual, carding rounds of 76 (+4) and 75 (+3) for a 43rd best 151 (+7) score.
