Men's Golf Heads to North Carolina for Gary Koch Invitational

AKRON, Ohio – The Akron men's golf team will open its final stretch of play before next month's Mid-American Conference Championships when the squad takes part in the Gary Koch Invitational beginning on Monday at the par-72, 7,042-yard Gaston Country Club in Gastonia, N.C.
The event, co-hosted by No. 13 Auburn and No. 78 Kentucky, will feature a total of eight Golfstat Top-100 teams, including top-ranked Florida State, No. 46 North Carolina State, No. 54 Ohio State, No. 56 Charlotte, No. 66 VCU and No. 76 Winthrop. The Zips will also face off against Charleston Southern, Davidson, Elon, Kansas State, UNC Wilmington and Western Carolina.
Play will begin on Monday, with tee times set for 8 a.m. ET. Teams will start the second round following the completion of the first 18 holes. Tee times for Tuesday's final round will also begin at 8 a.m.
The Zips are coming off a tie for 10th place on March 29 at the 46th Annual Furman Intercollegiate. As a team, Akron posted closed play tied with Davidson with a 54-hole score of 892 (+28).
Yann Pfeiffer ended play in a tie for 30th place with a score of 221 (+5) while Ryan Harris closed play two shots behind Pfeiffer in a tie for 37th place (223, +7).
George Baylis missed his career-low round by one stroke during the final round to finish in a tie for 44th place (224, +8).
