NEW ORLEANS, La. - The University of Akron men's track and field squad checked in at No. 25 in the latest the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association NCAA Division I National Team Computer Rankings.
"I feel like we are moving in the right direction," Akron head coach Dennis Mitchell commented. "Our current marks do not show us where we are really at now. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks with the meets we are going to we will put ourselves in even better place with rankings."
The Zips' women's team is ranked 44th in this week's tabulations. The squads are also rated third and sixth, respectively, in the most recent Great Lakes Regional rankings.
Akron returns to the track this weekend participating at the Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas, and at the Jesse Owens Track and Field Classic in Columbus, Ohio.
