CINCINNATI, Ohio – Akron's George Baylis posted a top-five finish after tying for the low round of the day to close out the 2015 Cobra Puma Invitational at the par-71, 6,680-yard Maketewah Country Club on Tuesday.
The Zips did not post a team score, with four players competing as individuals. Xavier's Corey Ward and Western Kentucky's Nate Johnson tied for medalist honors, with Johnson winning a one-hole playoff.
Baylis fired a 1-under 70, the lowest round of his Akron career, to pace the field and finished the week in a tie for fourth place with a three-round score of 217 (+4).
J.B. Williams finished tied for 31st place with a total score of 231 (+18) after his round of 81 (+10) on Tuesday.
Harry Whittle also carded a round of 10-over 81 to finish alone with 37th place with a 54-hole tally of 233 (+20).
Zach Gollwitzer rounded out the four Zips in the event, closing play one shot behind Whittle it a tie for 38th place (234, +21). Gollwitzer posted a score of 80 (+9) on Tuesday.
The Zips return to action on Friday, May 1, when they play host to the 2015 Mid-American Conference Championships at the Mayfield Sand Ridge Club - Sand Ridge in Chardon, Ohio.
